What brands to avoid?
Companies such as Kimberly – Clark (Kleenex) make tissue and toilet paper that comes from wood old growth forest Canada. These forests are home to countless species of wildlife as well as a way to curb global warming. I avoid the Kimberly-Clark products and would like to know of any other company that I "named" by their contempt for the environment or where no use of recycled fiber is in line with industry practices. I would not say there should be a blacklist of companies to avoid, as most of them work similarly to all. Only a few companies operating in the environment in mind, so I prefer to promote companies in place. Most manufacturers of towels using tissue paper or paper timber, unless the package says its recycled paper. I would avoid paper towels first, and use a damp cloth towels and rags instead of cleaning up the mess. For toilet paper, of course, its inevitable, but the use made of recycled paper as much as possible. I can not stand people who use a whole sheet paper towel to clean a small spill in a cloth may do the same. Being frugal (IMO) is the first and easiest thing to do to help the environment.
