UK Local Government to go green
In a bid to become the greenest government ever, the Coalition has recently developed a plan to public buildings to allow for profit by producing and selling the power generated by new green technologies. Wind turbines, solar panels, and technologies, including wave and tidal will pay for themselves and generate revenue for municipalities looking for ways to maintain financial stability in economic times difficult. An energy-saving smart meters can monitor the energy savings offered by each facility.
The Local Government Act, established in 1976, has banned tips for selling excess power generated to the network in an attempt to protect the newly created private electricity company at the time. This prohibition it became impossible for the advice of the proceeds from the sale of electricity generated from green technologies. The reversal of the ban marks a new era of the generation wealth of solar and wind generators bring local income advice. The incentive is certainly there now and is expected to generate hundreds of units of green quickly installed along with an accompanying energy monitor.
Solar panels placed on south-facing walls and roofs and wind turbines placed strategically in the parking could generate an average of £ 10,000 a year for just one site at the town hall building. With most councils owners of multiple facilities, new facilities could bring much more than this amount.
Schools, hospitals and parks are sites that could be used to generate electricity. Wind turbines are not efficient when mounted on most buildings, but the park allows the installation of a turbine mounted on a pole at a height of at least 150 feet caution is advised in areas with scenic views and historical alternatives to wind turbines should be used in these areas.
The project objectives are multiple. Generate significant amounts of green power will allow the Government to meet its reduction targets carbon to reduce CO2 by a third over the next decade. The money generated by the councils will boost local economies, and the highly visible facility will help foster an attitude of acceptance across the country and the pride of green technologies.
An important factor in this plan for UK green is the "feed in tariff" that subsidizes the generation of electricity from green technologies. The government put this program, also known as the "Clean Energy Cashback," in place in February 2010. Allows local governments and schools to benefit from the generation of a part of their own electricity, helps keep energy costs, and also allows the proceeds from the sale of electricity produced. Each unit of electricity will be offset financially by this program, whether it is used by the council or put back into the network. In addition, money is generated by the energy fed to the network. The program payments are guaranteed by law for 25 years.
